Announcement: Virtual International Conference of JSES 2025 (Trial Event)

The International Committee of the Japan Society of Educational Sociology (JSES) is pleased to announce a trial virtual international conference in English: Virtual International Conference of JSES 2025, titled “The New Wave of Sociology of Education: Perspectives from East Asia.” We invite your participation.

Date & Venue

July 31, 2025 (Thursday) – Online
Zoom links and further details will be provided closer to the event.

Schedule (Presentation time requests cannot be accommodated) (JST, UTC+9:00)

・Session I: 9:30 – 12:00
・Session II: 13:15 – 15:15
・Session III: 15:30 – 17:30

Presentation Application Schedule

・Deadline: May 15, 2025, UTC
・A maximum of 50 presentations is expected. If applications exceed expectations, an early deadline may be announced.

Participation Fee

As this is a trial event, participation is free of charge.

Presentation Guidelines

Eligibility:
・JSES members or researchers in sociology of education. Proposals will undergo a brief review for relevance.
Presentation Format:
・20-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A (same as the annual JSES conference).
Sessions:
・Please select your 1st and 2nd choice from the provided session list.

Technical Requirements

・The conference will be conducted via Zoom.
・As this is a free trial event, no technical support for Zoom connection will be provided.
・Please ensure your own preparations.
